Onfido is an AI-based technology that allows companies to sign up users remotely by helping them capture high-quality images of the users' government-issued photo IDs and faces - through either a selfie or a video. We then assess whether the users' ID is genuine or fraudulent, and then compare it against their facial biometrics to ensure the user is indeed submitting their own ID document. Our hybrid model relies on a combination of AI and human experts. That is how we deliver the speed and consistency of automation, plus the accuracy and expertise of a human team - essentially the best of both worlds.
